Paul Smith Warehouse Shoe Sale, Kilver Court, Shepton Mallet, Thurs 24 – Sun 27 Sept

Style shoo-in alert! Designer Village Kilver Court is famed for its Paul Smith Warehouse Sales and from Thurs 24 to Sun 27 September, the focus is on feet. Their fab four-day sale of Paul Smith’s women and men’s footwear has up to 80% off RRP on trainers, boots, smart shoes, boots, heels, wedges, sandals, espadrilles, flip flops – you name it – with prices starting from as low as £10 (I know!). Buy three pairs and you get the fourth pair (the cheapest) pair free.

The sale is spread over four days, with new stock every day, so there’s no disadvantage to going on day 1 or day 4. To ensure everyone’s safety during these tricky times, you MUST book a timed shopping slot online. Entry is £3, with all proceeds from ticket sales going to the Shepton Mallet Food Bank.

Hands off those sparkly ones, they’re mine!

Robin Wylde, Lyme Regis

dorset

West Country-born Harriet Mansell (BBC2’s Great British Menu), the chef creator of luscious Lyme Regis pop-up Robin Wylde is opening a permanent restaurant in a former pottery workshop in the centre of town on Sat 31 October. Hurrah!

With a moniker that conjours up the wild countryside and a sense of adventure (riding through the vale etc), expect menus featuring world-class seafood, incredible locally grown produce, raw ingredients, pickling, fermentation, sea herbs, seaweeds and more. If our faves from the pop-in are anything to go by – celeriac with hazelnut, cured egg yolk & Dorset truffle; baked River Teign oyster with wild garlic & apple and gooseberry mousse with butterscotch – this place will be amazing. Come for dinner Weds to Sat (full menu, typically 8-10 courses, £55 with wine pairing £40) or lunch on Sat (full menu £55; 3 courses £25). Book now.

King’s Square Apartments, Bridgwater

Swanky, eh? About to launch this October, some really rather super serviced apartments within a historical Grade II* listed building in Bridgwater’s Memorial Square. Restored to its original glory with lavish, luxurious interiors with a twist of vintage and original features, the King’s Square Apartments comprises five self-contained pads, each with a living room and dining area, fully equipped kitchen, contemporary bathroom and a bedroom with a super king-sized bed (nice). WiFi, smart TV, onsite parking, concierge, a virtual reception – and a view of the Mendip Hills.

Stay for a night, a few days or as long as you like, this place makes a great base for exploring Cheddar, Glastonbury and the north Somerset coast or if you’re in the area for business. Staying Mon to Thurs, you get a complimentary grilled brekkie; Fri to Sun, a bottle of prosecco awaits!
