newsflash

Nosh on freshly caught fish and seafood – some of it hauled in on their own fishing boat – at Mitch Tonks’ newest Rockfish restaurant just opened right on the waterfront at Poole Quay. The award-winning restaurant serves up West Country caught sole, bream, mackerel, monkfish, pollack and other local fish, dressed crab, oysters, prawns as well as trad fish and chips (chips unlimited as it happens, greedy guts), seven days a week, 12 noon – 9.30pm. Small, well-behaved dogs welcome.

Check in – soon – to a new boutique hotel in Bath

Luxe weekend in Bath anyone? Hotel Indigo is coming to a honey coloured Georgian terrace on South Parade in the centre of Bath this summer, on the site of the former Pratt’s and Halcyon hotels. Part of the huge Intercontinental Hotels Group PLC, the quirky hotel aims to draw its inspiration from its Somerset and Bath surroundings,  so you’ll be able to eat a ‘field to fork’ menu in The Elder restaurant  – the hotel manages the private land where the venison and other game is reared – sleep in 166 elegant luxury rooms and exercise (gently) in a fitness centre in the stone vaults below.

They’re spending a shed load (or rather a multi million pound arts centre load) of dosh on the provisionally named Paddock Project in Sherborne.  Due to open next year, there will be five exhibition galleries showcasing the work of national, international and local artists, a cafe, film screenings and more at what promises to be an exciting new arts space.

newsflash

Sue Macey (left) and Cathy Morris-Adams of Lodestone Property aren’t your typical estate agents. They believe that buying a new home is more than just the bricks and mortar (or round our way, the stone) but is about buying into a new lifestyle – and what a lifestyle down here in the West Country. Winners of an ESTA Gold Award – the estate agents’ Oscars – as the best estate agency in Somerset & Dorset *big round of applause* , they’ve just opened an office in Shaftesbury.  So if you’re thinking about moving to Dorset or selling a Dorset property….
