The Queensberry Hotel, Bath

Elegant Georgian townhouse hotel with (very handily) Bath's only Michelin-starred restaurant in the basement

Read our review of The Queensberry Hotel, Bath

Soak up the atmos in The Queensberry Hotel, a boutique hotel spread across four Georgian townhouses once owned by the 8th Marquess of Queensberry and close to the Royal Crescent, with a level of service you thought had gone out of fashion and the city’s only Michelin-starred Olive Tree restaurant in the basement.

Expect ornate Georgian fireplaces, cornicing and sash windows gel with modern furnishings. So comfy sofas and artworks in the public rooms; flatscreen TVs and Bluetooth DAB radios in the 29 individually decorated bedrooms. All done out in tasteful sludgy colours with dashes of brights.

Owners Laurence and Helen Beere came from Clivedon and The Savoy, so service is paramount: staff will valet park your car, turn your bed down for the night and polish your shoes while you sleep. Plus a baby listening service, toys and activity packs, even mini robes for your mini people.

Indulge in cocktails in the Old Q Bar then mosey on down to the Olive Tree restaurant in the basement, where chef Chris Cleghorn cooks up the a la carte, set lunch and six and nine course dinner menus (including dedicated vegetarian and vegan menus) which won him Bath’s only Michelin star in 2018 (as well as 3 AA rosette stars). The restaurant will be re-opening on Thurs 1 Oct.

Their gourmet getaways and Olive Tree staycation packages are excellent value.
