– a glorious cornucopia of original toys, colourful unisex clothes for babies and children and all sorts of curious knick-knacks for kids that you won't find anywhere else
Step through the door of award-winning independent children’s shop Spotty Herberts in Bath and lose track of time, as you discover the glorious cornucopia of original toys, colourful unisex clothes for babies and children and all sorts of curious knicknacks for kids, from a few pennies upwards, that you just won’t find anywhere else.
Co-owners Kate Austin and Emily Ingram believe that childhood should be crammed with a magical, innocent sense of fun, silliness and wildness. It’s with this in mind that they scour local markets, independents and Instagram looking for inspiration from makers and craftspeople to fill their shop with an eclectic and brilliantly unique products. Most are ethically produced, locally sourced or British made.
Love the shop’s styling too, with a vintage children’s leather armchair and retro haberdashery counter and ever changing installations, like a vast hand-made golden sequinned sun with a collection of silver sequined clouds and sparkling sequin-covered rain drops highlighting the wonder of nature.
Clothing brands for children 0-10 years include: Bob & Blossom, Tootsa MacGinty, Boys&Girls, Dandy Star, Mini Rodini, Knit Planet and Stay & Bird.
And those awards? Spotty Herberts won the Best Children’s Business in the Somerset Muddy Stilettos Awards 2016 and a national retail award from CWB for the Best New Children’s Store.
