Sugar Mango, in the heart of Southbourne, one of the coolest areas of Bournemouth, is one of those shops filled with stuff you won’t be able to resist. We’re talking colourful women’s clothing and footwear from indie brands, beautiful unique gemstone and silver jewellery, accessories and an eclectic selection of lifestyle gifts.

It comes as no surprise to discover that owner Alison Dewey was a professional photographer before setting up the shop in 2008 – she’s got a brilliant eye for colour – and her curated collection of  ‘urban beach wear’ for every day women is as stylish as it is wearable (her ethos is that beauty comes from inner confidence – not whether you’re tall, slim, youthful or whatever).

A trip to India fired a passion for semi-precious jewellery and now she creates her own range.

We love the brightly coloured Roka backpacks and clever cross body bags with mix and match straps.

The shop’s stuffed with all sorts of fun lifestyle bits and bobs, from toiletries, mugs and candles to yoga mats.

Everyone’s friendly but not in your face or pushy; this is place where they actively encourage you to take your time, browse, have a chat (I know, I’ve been in) before leaving with something wonderful, beautifully wrapped.
