The Emporium Somerset
– one store, over 50 independent businesses, selling home wares and gifts – some vintage, some handcrafted and all gorgeous – in a converted Victorian chapel in Wellington
Over 50 independent small businesses selling a cornucopia of home wares and gifts – some vintage, some handcrafted and all gorgeous – on three floors of a converted Victorian chapel in the small market town of Wellington at the foot of the Blackdown Hills.
Set up by Cato and Sean Cooper in 2015, and winner of the Best Gift Shop in the Muddy Stilettos Awards 2017 and Best Emporium in 2016, The Emporium sells * takes deep breath* : furniture, home and garden wares, rugs and runners, jewellery, candles, paintings, pictures, bags, skin care, stuff for pets, knick-knacks, wool, plants, fresh flowers, children’s toys and more….
Much of it is handmade in the West country, sourced from other British craftspeople and makers, or from ethical and Fairtrade companies – and it’s all fairly priced.
Authorised stockists of Autentico Chalk Paint and all the accompanying paraphernalia, you can take in a piece of furniture for a makeover or learn how to do it yourself at one of Cato’s workshops – she runs all sorts, from painting furniture to making lampshades.
