Where d’ya get those peepers?
Get your eyelashes party ready!
My eyelashes aren’t my best feature, I have to be honest: they’re short and there aren’t that many of them. Mascara can only go so far and I always stick false eyelashes on wonky so with Christmas coming up, I booked myself in for some glam eyelash extensions at Frontlinestyle in Bath, winners (along with their Wells branch) of not one but two Muddy Stilettos Awards: Best Hair and Best Spa.
The salon’s on Monmouth Street in the centre of Bath, just off the main drag. I had to pop in 48 hours beforehand to have a patch test (a single eyelash glued onto an eyelash on each eye) to check for adverse reactions (there weren’t any) before the main appointment.
Frontlinestyle use synthetic Hollywood Lashes extensions and each lash is individually glued to one of your own natural lashes with special medical grade glue. You decide the length, size and curl of the lashes to create the look you want, from the ‘I just happen to have very thick lashes naturally’ to full drag queen. You can have a full set (an extension on every lash), half set (on every other lash), or flicks (20-30 lashes towards the outside edge of each eye).
I decided on lashes that were dramatic enough to make an impact but not look as if I was going clubbing (can’t remember the last time I went clubbing). First Jess used a primer to cleanse my natural lashes so that the glue will stick. Then she very, very, very patiently used tweezers to attach about 150 individual eyelashes onto my own. About an hour and 15 minutes (and some lwo level snoring) later, all the lashes were attached. Jess put a sealer over the top and it was time for the big reveal.

And for my close up, Mr De Mille…
What do you think? I absolutely love them. And I think for your lashes to look like this for about six weeks – without having to put mascara on (and take it off) or lose the odd falsie – for £65 (about what you’d pay for a decent hair cut in a good salon), it’s well worth it. As the extensions are glued directly onto your own lashes, they fall out with your natural lash cycle, so you won’t wake up one morning looking bald and you can maintain them by having infill lashes after two to three weeks if you like. So far (over three weeks later) mine are still looking good. Highly recommend.
