And the Best Place to Live in Somerset is…
The community-minded town’s packed with arty, artisan indy businesses and cafes, hosts the best street market in the West and is a worthy winner.
So the inaugural Muddy ‘Best Places to Live’ competition has come to an end. Don’t want to sound too smug but there really are so many wonderful places in Somerset, each with its own atmosphere, personality – and fans – that it’s been a close run thing here in this glorious county. But we’ve counted up the votes and we do have a winner, so let’s hear it for fabulous FROME!
The community-minded town’s packed with artisan, indy businesses, restaurants and cafes, a bunch of gorgeous buildings and houses (over 400 listed properties, apparently) and good schools. This is a super arty place with galleries galore, a thriving music venue (where The Foo Fighters have been known to just rock up) and the maker-designer-foodie Frome Independent, the best street market in the West. Read our full Best Places to Live guide to Frome to get the full monty on what makes it so special, and check out the final voting results below.
Have a nose over the border at the best places to live in Dorset, Wiltshire, Devon and Cornwall. Want to plot the location for your next break or dream holiday home? See the full list of winners across 25 counties.
