New: Exmoor yoga retreat
Immerse yourself in a weekend of yoga, relaxation and meditation this October – with gourmet dining, pampering and outdoor hot tub. Yes please!
Into yoga? Looking to get away to relax, revive, rejuvenate and connect with nature? You’ll want to know about this exclusive three-night yoga and wellness retreat on Exmoor, hosted by Lucy and her team at Exmoor Character Cottages from Fri 1 to Mon 4 Oct.
In Pilgrim Corner, a chocolate box thatched cottage where period charm meets luxury living, in Minehead’s tranquil Old Town, with the wild moors of Exmoor National Park on your doorstep.
Accommodation is in four characterful, bedrooms (two kings, a twin and a double), all of which are en suite, so there will be a maximum of eight people on the retreat.
The pretty cottage garden has different ‘rooms’, allowing you to share space together and apart – and this gorgeous, bubbling hot tub.
Yoga teacher Terry Bruce will take you on a journey through the five elements – Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal – with five 2-hour sessions over the three days, either outside in the garden or in the spacious lounge in the cottage.
Arrive on Friday 1 Oct at 4pm and as soon as you’ve settled in, it’s time for your first 2-hour yoga session. ‘Water’ aims to help you wind down from the week and get into the zone – think deep rest, replenish and rejuvenate. Supper is a pre-prepared, local seasonal meal created by private chef Ben. All you have to do is heat it and eat it.
On Saturday, there are two, 2-hour yoga sessions: ‘Wood’ is all about creativity, playfulness, planning, growth, endless possibilities and the patience to overcome obstacles; ‘Fire’ focuses on rekindling your passion for life.
Chef Ben will cook you a three-course gourmet dinner on Saturday night (menus and any dietary requirements will be agreed in advance), which will be served by Izzy in the dining room. Dress up or down – your choice.
Sunday’s 2-hour yoga sessions are ‘Earth’, focusing on giving and receiving nourishment; and ‘Metal’ allowing you to let go of what you no longer need, leaving only what is truly precious.
It’s pamper time on Sunday evening, with an express treatment (manicure or pedicure, Dermalogica Pro-Skin 30 facial, or back, neck and shoulder massage) and a glass of fizz at a private session at the Ivy Beauty Room.
Then you’re set to return to the real world.
THE MUDDY VERDICT
Good for: Anyone looking for a yoga experience that’s more meaningful than just exercises on a mat, wants a deeper connection with, and appreciation of, nature and wants to integrate this into their life – with added gourmet food, pamper sessions and that hot tub.
Not for: Yoga virgins. While you don’t have to be an expert yogi, you do need to have some prior experience of yoga or Pilates and be able to move down and up from the floor with ease. Unsure? Give them a call on 07817 698366 to discuss.
The damage: Prices include accommodation and all of the yoga sessions, two meals and well being treatment above, and start from £550 each for a shared double room up to £750 for single occupancy. You can book as a group or by the bedroom if you are happy to share a room.
To book: The yoga retreat isn’t bookable online (though you can book up an ordinary stay in Pilgrim Corner or their other holiday cottages on their website), so please call Lucy on 07817 698366 to book the yoga retreat.
