Muddy gets the chop
From catwalk to countryside: the Somerset hairdresser cutting the mustard – and your hair.
Seen the photos of the models sashaying down the runway at London Fashion Week? Ever wondered who styles their hair? Somerset hairdresser Janine Biss, that’s who. She’s one of the team selected to make those supermodels even more super gorgeous (grrrr). But hey, you can make like a model too. Janine and hairdresser husband Jason Marino’s salon, Argento Hairdressing, is in the tiny village of Barton St David, between Shepton Mallet and Somerton.
But before they do you, they did me…
Graduate from the prestigious GHD Graduate Styling programme and a L’Oreal Colour Specialist Janine and Jason, a photographer in a former life, ran salons in Bristol prior to setting up Argento. It’s in a converted barn, of course (this is Somerset, after all).
This is the action end where Janine and her team offer everything from the latest natural looking balayage to really effective de-frizzing treatments to create super silky smooth hair, which can last up to 5 months (wow).
Never complacent, constantly learning and with great contacts in the world of hair, they’re always on top of the trends whilst retaining the friendliness of the countryside salon. Weddings are a speciality.
Products? L’Oreal, obvs (there’s not much Janine doesn’t know about the brand) and natural-no-nasties Italian brand Davines (did I mention that Jason is half Italian?).
Brilliant idea: customers can create a Pinterest pinboard with styles they like, they’ve had or take their fancy; no need to scrabble around the bottom of bags for pix torn out of mags or fruitless searching for saved images on the mobile.
But back to me. Can you see my roots? Eek!
Not after Jason coloured my hair – all over white blonde. Then Janine set to work.
Well pleased with the result. Cost? Colour, cut and blow dry £120. Cut only £34–£42.50.
