February’s cocktail: the 12-bore tipple
South American tequila meets Somerset brandy in the 12-bore tipple cocktail – and there's port in there too
It’s Pancake Day on Tuesday so you’ll need some booze to wash it down won’t you? Jake’s ’12-bore tipple’ (definitely more country than town this month) won him 3rd place in a tequila competition recently.
- 40 mls tequila
- 25 Somerset brandy
- 25 ml fresh limes
- 15 ml cinnamon syrup (you can buy it or make it: 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water and boil until the sugar’s dissolved, then drop in 6 cinnamon sticks, cover and leave overnight; next day remove the cinnamon sticks)
- 1 egg white
- 8ml port
- Shake all the ingredients together without the ice
- Add ice and shake again
- Dip the rim of a chilled martini or large port glass into the syrup and then into the sugar
- Pour in the mixture
- Float the port on top of the drink using the back of a spoon
And there you have it.
