The best video of the year
Three Grammy's for Kendrick Lamar in this year's awards, including best video for 'Humble'. We'd better watch it then!
Overnight the Grammy’s have been, gone and made their ‘best of’ pronouncements and there was the usual mix of expected and slightly out-there winners – Bruno Mars won for Album, Record, Single, and R&B album of the year; and er, Kraftwork for Best Dance/Electronica Album (I’m not even kidding!).
Other than Bruno, one of the biggest trophy scoopers was Kendrick Lamar who walked off with Best Rap Performance, Best Rap/Sung Performance (Loyalty with Rihanna) and Video of the Year for Humble.
Er yeah, um, that video is of course totally (*cough*) peng. One of my favourite videos of all time. Oh alright alright, I confess – I’d never seen it until just now, I don’t seem to watch music vids any more – only occasionally in the barbers when I’m waiting for my kids to get their haircut (uncool, me?). Anyway, my curiosity has finally been piqued by Kendrick’s win so it has wound its way onto the blogaroo today for your delectation too.
If you’re too busy, decrepit or non-plussed to get down with the kids these days, here you go – have your own sneaky peeky to fill those monstrous gaps in youth culture know-how, and more importantly allow you to answer the vital question – do music videos these days come anywhere near to the brilliance of Wham’s Club Tropicana?
