Clem Yates, one of the world’s few female Masters of Wine and the force behind award-winning English Pink rosé, which is produced in Somerset. Name sound familiar? English Pink were voted Best Local Food &amp; Drink Producer in the Dorset, Somerset &amp; Bristol Muddy Awards 2023.  From festive feasts to parties and sofa suppers, Clem knows exactly what to pop, pour and save for yourself. Here are her top wines for winter, including the best red for under £10. This wine came top in The Drinks Business global masters tasting and is the best red wine you will find under £10. It has a bright fresh nose of red and black fruit, with mulberry and blueberry flavours on the palate, and finishes with a flinty, savoury note that balances out the juicy weight. The tannins are also well balanced for an Italian red wine. I know the label isn’t great but seriously this wine is really worth a try. However for those who like a bit of oak character in their wine, this Chardonnay is one of my favourites. Fresh aromas of lemon curd and vanilla combine to give a full-bodied white wine style but with a fresher, zestier complexity. English Pinot Noirs are developing a reputation for high quality and, with a focus on the Burgundian style, they offer great value for money when compared to the French equivalent. The Cove Point Pinot Noir has all the qualities of the sell-out Lyme Bay Pinot Noir, for half the price. A lifted nose of wild raspberry fruit jumps out of the glass with layered red fruit flavours and a hint of cracked black pepper spice. I adore the Assyrtiko grape, and this is a very well-done example for a reasonable price. It’s un-oaked, but packed with flavours of ripe peach and citrus fruits.
