<p>Fresh as a lotus flower from London’s Spitalfields and now slap bang in the centre of Bath, is the new family-friendly <a href="https://rosasthai.com/locations/rosas-thai-restaurant-delivery-takeaway-exeter" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rosa’s Thai</a>. With its fantastically flavoursome, home-cooked Thai food – signature dishes made with topnotch Thai produce – and a no-frills atmos, it feels so authentic you could almost have arrived by tuk-tuk. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">THE VIBE</h2>



<p>Relaxed with cool ambient music, Rosa&#8217;s has more of a local café vibe than many of the larger Thai restaurants (no dim lighting or ornate teak antiques here). </p>

<p>Funky décor with pale pink tiles, chairs in primary colours, and black and white photos of Thai life add to the feeling of authenticity.</p>

<p>Rosa&#8217;s Thai started life as a market stall on London&#8217;s Brick Lane. Later, founder Saiphin Moore opened her first proper restaurant in Spitalfields, on the site of an East End &#8216;caff&#8217; called Rosa’s. Out of respect for the previous owner – and because they had no money for a new sign – they kept the name.  </p>

<p>The Bath branch is the 33rd Rosa&#8217;s Thai in the UK, and it&#8217;s open seven days a week to eat-in, to take away or for delivery.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-scoff-quaff">SCOFF &amp; QUAFF</h2>



<p>You&#8217;ll find all your favourite Thai dishes – green curry, red curry, pad Thai&nbsp;– each packed with authentic Thai flavours and ingredients (a little map on the back of the menu shows where they come from), but Rosa&#8217;s serves up some surprises too. Nibble on street food and classic dishes, popcorn shrimp with sriracha mayo dipping sauce, pumpkin crackers, red duck pineapple curry and drunken noodles (no booze but a sure-fire hangover cure), soups, salads, wok star stir fries, each handily tagged with the level of spice.  There are plenty of meat-free, gluten-free, halal and vegan options. Can&#8217;t decide what to order? No problem, order a load: Rosa&#8217;s Thai dishes are designed for sharing and are very reasonably priced. </p>

<p>To start, we had the Classic Sharing Platter which included chicken satay, tender skewers of chicken with a well-spiced lemon grass peanut sauce, Rosa’s delicious warm and succulent home-made spring rolls, larb (fragrant minced chicken) patties served with tamarind dipping sauce and Thai Calamari which was soft and tender in crisp tempura batter with a chilli dipping sauce.</p>

<p>Thought I&#8217;d put them to the test by ordering my favourite Thai dish, a chicken green curry as my main course. Served with egg fried rice and a good amount of tender chicken, soft aubergine, bamboo shoots, Thai basil and proper heat from the chilli, it didn&#8217;t disappoint. </p>

<p>Another main, the Hainanese Chicken Rice Special – chicken in breadcrumbs served with fragrant rice and a soybean sauce, chilli and ginger sauce – was delicious and comforting.</p>

<p>For dessert, we had a Som Tum Brownie Bite, which was a yummy Thai style chocolate brownie with creamy coconut ice cream, and mango sorbet which was a refreshing end to a really satisfying lunch.</p>

<p><strong>Not for:</strong> A lingering or formal meal. This is good quality food with speedy service.</p>
