Bath-based, internationally acclaimed textile artist<a href="https://bit.ly/3L3Vso2" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label=" Carole Waller, (opens in a new tab)"> Carole Waller,</a> whose work can be seen in the V&amp;A and has been sold in Harvey Nichols, Liberty and Bergdorf Goodman, creates beautiful, original handpainted (and sometimes screen printed) clothing and scarves. She&#8217;s a painter who paints with dye directly onto cloth – silks, velvet, cashmere and other luxury fabrics – to make unique painted silk clothing or &#8216;art to wear&#8217;.

Inspired by the world around her, she observed and photographed the trees surrounding her home for months during the winter of 2020/2021, to create &#8216;The View from Here&#8217; collection of clothes and scarves, which include this <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="hand-painted bamboo cardigan (opens in a new tab)" href="https://carolewaller.co.uk/product/bamboo-cardigan/" target="_blank">hand-painted bamboo cardigan</a>.

In fact, after washing, you twist it it into a ball and leave to dry to maintain the crinkled look.

As the weather warms up, a lightweight coat will put a spring in your step. Made from matka silk, a matte and heavy rough silk which looks like linen but feels like silk, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="this coat (opens in a new tab)" href="https://carolewaller.co.uk/product/cell-handpainted-silk-matka-coat-carole-waller/" target="_blank">this coat </a>was inspired by the gentle colours and light in the frescoes by Fra Angelico in San Marco in Florence. Bellissima!

We love this slimline<a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label=" silk dupion coa (opens in a new tab)" href="https://carolewaller.co.uk/product/geraldine-silk-coat-carole-waller/" target="_blank"> silk dupion coat</a>, cleverly cut so there&#8217;s no shoulder seam, and with a print from a photo of 17th century inscribed ledger stones on the floor of Bath Abbey.
