<p>We need to tread carefully when discussing interior design trends. The stunning images that catch our eye on Instagram or Pinterest often showcase ideas that have been in the making for several years. Trends in interior design are a slow burn. They typically emerge from fashion, transition into fabric designs, and gradually make their way into our homes. Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s hot right now.</p>

<p>The shift away from cool tones has been evident over the past few years. Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2025, Mocha Mousse, is a rich, chocolatey brown that feels both luxurious and inviting. Other suggestions include burgundy reds from Behr (Rumours), a deep purple they are calling Purple Basil from PPG , and caramel browns with Caramelized from Dunn Edwards and Elderton from Graham and Brown. Taken with the whole palette of chocolate and caramel colours launched by Little Greene just over a year ago, the direction of travel seems clear. While this isn’t a suggestion for you to paint your entire home purple or red, incorporating warm and strong hues can bring depth and coziness to your space. Whether it’s a strong colour on your kitchen island or accessories around your home, it’s time to warm up your tones.</p>

<p>Curves and soft edges remain a cornerstone of design, with no signs of waning. Think inviting sofas, bentwood armchairs, and round arches in doorways. These elements, paired with warm tones, create an ambiance that feels like a comforting embrace. While we are seeing a change in the choice fabrics, with less of the heavy sheepskin or bouclé upholstery popular a few years ago, curves are a long-lasting trend – they’re classic and timeless.</p>

<p>The love for green continues to thrive. Whether it’s a bold statement like a green kitchen or subtle accents like plants, artwork, or soft furnishings, green remains a favourite. While some shades bring natural, earthy vibes, emerald and vibrant greens are equally popular and striking. Incorporating green adds a refreshing touch and harmonises with other natural elements in your home.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-modern-textures">MODERN TEXTURES</h2>

<p>Texture is taking centre stage in 2025, adding depth and interest to interiors. Natural wood for kitchen cabinets – either as a standalone finish or paired with painted surfaces – offers durability and timeless appeal. Natural stone is also gaining traction, moving away from pale quartz to options with more veining, colour, and character. Dark worktops, for instance, provide both practicality and a dramatic contrast to the ubiquitous pale quartz.</p>



<p>Fluted and textured finishes are becoming more popular, especially in kitchens. Highlighting a kitchen island with fluted wood or stone gives a luxurious, bespoke feel and ties in beautifully with other textural elements.</p>

<p>This year, homes are about expressing personality, and patterns – whether through fabrics or wallpaper – are making a strong comeback. Bold, eye-catching designs are popular, but there’s also plenty of choice in more muted and understated patterns. Besides adding visual interest, patterns are practical: they camouflage marks and stains better than plain surfaces, making them an excellent choice for high-traffic areas.</p>
