Homewood Hotel & Spa, Bath

The super stylish – slightly mischievous – Georgian country house hotel, restaurant and spa is filled with witty artworks and state-of-the-art indulgencies.

Opened in 2020 by innovative West Country hoteliers Ian and Crista Taylor (the people behind The Bird in the centre of Bath), the luxe and super stylish Homewood hotel, restaurant and spa set in 20 acres of grounds just outside Bath, is quirky, original and fun.

Ravishing rooms, fab food and drink, indulgent spa, the whole place is filled with witty touches – a yellow submarine on the lawn, twinkling chandeliers, a wall of clocks, eclectic artworks – you can’t help but feel happy here.

There are 21 gorgeous rooms in the Georgian main house – Elegant Rooms, Marvellous Rooms, Junior Suite and Hot Tub Suites – with a further 10 rooms with balconies, views and hot tubs in the former lodge house Mallingford Mews. Every room is individually decorated, with artworks, 100 Acres and Dyptique products, those swanky Dyson hairdryers and Smeg coffee machines.

Come for lunch, afternoon tea, dinner.  Eat inside in the Olio restaurant – Mediterranean-influenced sharing platters and classics created with local ingredients – or outside on the terrace, where there are Dining Domes and Winter Chalets. Private dining for up to six in the Flower Room and Plate Room.

Was that a cuckoo we heard at 5pm?  That mean’s it’s happy hour in Valentine’s Bar. Chin chin!

Chill in the spa, with treatment rooms, plunge pool, steam room, sauna, outdoor heated pool with relaxation pods nearby and hot tub with views across the valley. Book yourself in for an holistic ila treatment, a pamper day, spa break or become a member.

The hotel’s only five miles from the World Heritage City of Bath but we reckon that once you’ve rocked up here, you won’t want to leave.
