The Marlborough Tavern, Bath
A city pub with a local vibe, come with your mates, mum, kids, laptop – dog – for relaxed, good food and drink.
Back in the (18th century) day, The Marlborough Tavern was popular with sedan carriers and servants and it’s still a laid back place today, with a totally local, not touristy feel, despite being around a stone’s throw from the Royal Circus and melee of Bath beyond.
Inside, it’s spacious and open plan with plenty of seating and tables around the large central bar, and black and white photos of old Bath and original artworks on the walls.
Outside, a courtyard strung with fairylights awaits warmer days.
Food is heart-warming, inventive and freshly cooked using West Country ingredients (check the provenance on the back of the menu).
Nearby you can swing a club on the Bath Approach Golf Course, take the air in the Royal Victoria Park (botanical gardens, Great Dell Aerial Walkway, play park, skate park and more), or take a selfie in front of the Royal Crescent.
Parking is easy, in Royal Victoria Park (less than 5 mins) and in Charlotte Street car park (around 10 mins).
Foodie events throughout the year: check here for the latest.
Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and every morning for coffee from 9am.
