Moonfleet Manor Hotel, near Weymouth

Muddy says: Your kids will have the time of their lives at the luxury Moonfleet Manor hotel on Dorset’s Jurassic coast – and so will you.

Moonfleet Manor Hotel is a super comfortable, friendly, luxury hotel designed with every member of the family in mind – even the dog.

The Georgian manor house sits on the edge of the village of Fleet (immortalised in J Meade Falkner’s smugglers’ tale Moonfleet) in large grounds which look over to the spectacular Chesil Beach in Dorset.

You can spend time with your kids in the indoor Verandah –  ride-on toys, a trampoline, skittle alley, a football pitch, an under-fives soft play – in one of the three heated indoor pools, outside on a play frame, sandpit and on a guided Toddler Waddler mini beast trail around the grounds. The South West Coast path, beach and the rest of Dorset’s gorgeous countryside awaits beyond (they’ll give you a packed lunch if you want to go out on a jaunt).

Or you can drop the kids off in the Den, the hotel’s Ofsted-registered creche. It’s open daily for stuff like face painting, arts & crafts, cooking (you don’t have to clear up the mess – hurrah!) and has a baby area. You get two hours’ free childcare every day; they’ll even come and collect your kids from your room on a Sunday morning.

This all leaves you time to relax with a book, chill in the spa, have a luxury massage or beauty treatment, go for a walk, enjoy afternoon tea with a glass of fizz, have dinner for two (there’s a babysitting service) … or whatever.

The restaurant serves up a child-friendly British/European menu and includes high tea with the kids if you wish.

Choose from a selection of comfy double rooms and family suites. The two-storey coach house, set apart from the main hotel, sleeping four, sounds amazing.  No need to bring night lights, toddler loo seats – it’s already here.

Electric car charging. Dogs welcome.
