Get a pizza the action – literally! Now that PizzaExpress Taunton has been given a massive makeover, you can watch the pizzaiolos – aka the talented pizza makers – kneading and flaring the pizza dough and topping it with your choice of fresh and delicious ingredients, right in front of you. Fabuloso!

The bright and spacious restaurant on Bridge Street, close to the River Tone, is just few minutes’ walk from the Taunton Brewhouse theatre and arts centre (very handy for pre-theatre food and drink), Taunton’s independent quarter and the rest of the shops in the county town (very handy for a lunch after retail therapy with friends).

Come for all kinds of starters – not just their famous dough balls. Nosh on thin and crispy Romana pizzas, classic pizzas (just as they were made back in 1965 in the very first restaurant in London’s Soho – there’s a portrait of founder Peter Boizot on the wall), calzone, leggera (with salad in the middle) and gluten-free. They offer authentic Italian pasta dishes and salads, too. Specially for kids: the Piccolo menu of dough balls, pizza, pasta or salad, dessert and a bambinoccino (their famous frothy milk and hot choc).  Specially for adults: prosecco, beer, cider and cocktails.

Sit inside or out in their sunny courtyard. Hold a private party in the function room; hire the whole restaurant if you’re really popular. Order to takeaway. The pizza making parties sound brilliant – and they’re not just for kids!
