Harking back to the days when rail travel was a luxurious adventure, Platform is a fabulous restaurant and cocktail lounge located in two sumptuously decorated vintage railway carriages and a Victorian railway station in beautiful West Bay, near Bridport.

Formerly known as The Station Kitchen, Platform holds 2 AA rosettes and was twice voted Best Restaurant in Dorset, Somerset & Bristol in the Muddy Awards (2024 and 2021).  You can expect fresh, creative and local dishes with an la carte menu, ‘Off the Rails’ set menu (2 courses £23; 3 courses £27), superb Sunday roasts and awesome afternoon teas – in an unforgettable setting.

Sip cocktails or dine in Beeching, where leather booths and opulent décor evoke a touch of Prohibition decadence or even the Orient Express. It’s easy to imagine you’re travelling across Europe to the South of France, Istanbul or some other lavish destination *sigh*.  Actually you aren’t going anywhere – except, maybe, to foodie heaven.

Dine in Brunel, a 1911 Great Western Railway carriage which once served as an ambulance during the First World War. Older than the Titanic and infinitely more successful, the carriage is warm and inviting, with wood panelling, clocks, mirrors, trinkets, twinkling lights, and some of the original cast-iron fittings.

The carriages are the perfect setting for their regular themed murder mystery evenings, held throughout the year with a talented cast of actors – and delicious three-course dinners.

Brides to be: Platform is an incredible venue for wedding receptions or even to get hitched (they’re licensed to wed), with a unique atmosphere, excellent food – and West Bay’s magnificent golden cliffs (as seen in Broadchurch) as the backdrop for your wedding photos!
