Warren Farm Somerset, Blagdon

Make like Little House on the Prairie – except that the prairie is Somerset’s marvellous Mendips and the iconic Cheddar Gorge

The Small family have been lucky enough to live and work in this spectacular spot overlooking the Cheddar Gorge, in the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Somerset, for generations. Now the rest of us can enjoy it too, on a glamping break in one of their luxury wooden and canvas lodges.

Warren Farm is still a working farm, with sheep, cattle, pigs and chicken. The gorgeous setting has meant it’s been used many times as a TV/film location; Poldark, Robin of Sherwood, The Famous Five, One Man and his Dog were all shot here.

There are two wooden and five canvas lodges. Super cosy, each one has polished wooden floors, is lit by candles and lamps and is kitted out with log burning stoves, sofas, beds, fully equipped kitchens, dining tables and chairs and own loo. The wooden lodges have their own bathrooms and there’s a shower block with all mod cons for those in the canvas lodges, using captured rain water and electricity generated by the sun.

Everyone has their own covered picnic area, campfire, cooking stove/BBQ and picnic table.

Kids will love the play area with wooden towers, swings, slides and sand pits, enjoy saying hello to all the farm animals and collecting fresh eggs from the chickens.

All the basics and local produce – including their own meat – are available from the little honesty shop.

There’s plenty to do nearby, with wonderful walks (bring your dog if you like, after 1 June), activities and more.

PS. Warren Farm Somerset can be hired for weddings too.
