One of the hottest dates in the festival calendar this year is in Taunton! ’80s synth-pop legends Howard Jones, Heaven 17 and Blancmange are playing live at Electric Summer, in Taunton’s beautiful Vivary Park, on Sun 30 August– and we’ve got a pair of VIP tickets (worth £390) and a pair of general tickets (worth £160) to give away.

Offering all the buzz of a major music festival – without the mud, camping equipment or three-day commitment – Electric Summer is a one-day celebration of classic synth-pop with some of the biggest names and hits of the 1980s, a smattering of new electronic rock and pop bands, DJ sets, festival food, summer drinks, and a wonderfully welcoming atmos.

Whether you’re reliving your youth, introducing the next generation to the music you grew up with or discovering new bands on a fabulous day out with friends, frankly, what better way to spend a Bank Holiday Sunday in August?

Few artists defined 80s synth-pop quite like headliner Howard Jones (who lives in Somerset, by the way), whose hits include What Is Love?, New Song, Things Can Only Get Better and No One Is to Blame. This is your only chance to see him in the UK this year.

Synth-pop pioneers Heaven 17 have been sound-tracking dance floors and airwaves for more than four decades. Expect iconic hits including Temptation, Come Live With Me, Let Me Go and Fascist Groove Thang – timeless songs that still electrify audiences today.

Blancmange remain one of the most distinctive acts to emerge from the synth-pop era. Festival goers can enjoy classic hits including Living on the Ceiling, Blind Vision, Don’t Tell Me, and Waves.

Also on the bill: dark electronic pop duo Black Nail Cabaret, who will be flying in from their home in Hungary;  Bristol-based alternative electronic rock band MESH; electro-rock trio Agency-V, who gained thousands of new fans when they supported Gary Numan’s Glastonbury warm-up shows last year; and Neon Fields, a dynamic band based in the South West with a sound likened to Depeche Mode and Muse. In between the live music, internationally renowned producer and remixer Paul Dakeyne will be spinning specially curated DJ sets.

Make sure you don’t miss out by buying tickets here – Nordoff and Robbins, a charity delivering music therapy to people across the UK, will receive a donation from every ticket sold – or enter our competition to be in with a chance of winning some for free.

We’re giving away two sets of tickets:

  • a pair of VIP tickets (worth £390), which includes prime marquee location with great view of the stage, guaranteed seat, exclusive standing area right in front of the stage, special DJ set, unlimited food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks
  • a pair of general tickets (worth £160)
