<p>Kevin and Jayne Ramage of the <a href="https://www.lymebookshop.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lyme Regis Bookshop</a> sell all kinds of fiction, non-fiction, kids&#8217; books and of course,  it&#8217;s the place to come if you want <em>anything </em>to do with the Jurassic Coast. Amazingly, there&#8217;s been a bookshop here for over 40 years, and the shop&#8217;s pretty frontage appeared in <em>The French Lieutenant’s Woman</em>, the 1981 film based on John Fowles&#8217; novel (he lived just up the road).</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><em>Art of Death </em>by Laurence Anholt</h2>



<p>If you&#8217;ve got kids, you might already know Devon-based author and illustrator Laurence Anholt for his award-winning children&#8217;s books. <em> Art of Death</em> is the first in his adult crime series <em>The Mindful Detective</em>, featuring a Buddhist detective Vincent Caine, and set in the West Country – a sort of ‘Broadchurch meets Fargo’. This is book is set against the backdrop of Lyme. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><em>Sea Bean</em> by Sally Huband</h2>



<p>A sea bean is a seed that falls in the tropics and is carried by ocean currents to the shores of Western Europe. This beautifully written and evocative book describes one woman’s search for sea beans from her new home in Shetland. </p>

<p>More seeds! DI Samuel Owusu is investigating a murder with the clue of the seeds of a rare tree from a mansion in Chelsea. <em>The Sunday Times</em> best-selling author will be the first speaker in this year’s <a href="https://www.lymecrime.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lyme Crime</a> festival, taking place at the Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis from Thurs 15 – Sat 17 June. </p>

<p>The Dorset-based author&#8217;s story is set on a crumbling estate in the county in the run-up to the Second World War with a young orphan who finds a whale washed up on the beach, plants a flag and is determined to do things differently.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><em>The Fossil Hunter</em> by Kate Winter</h2>



<p>A new book about Mary Anning for children. It has watercolour illustrations throughout and is a great addition to our knowledge about this Lyme icon.</p>

<p>This lovely hardback book with illustrations and photographs is based on Chris’ 30 year collection of fossils and other finds from the beaches of Lyme and Charmouth. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><em>Landslips</em> by Donald Campbell</h2>



<p>The Undercliff is a five-mile stretch between Lyme Regis and Axmouth which is classed as National Nature Reserve and part of the South West Coast Path. The book, by the Devon-based naturalist and author, charts the history of the Undercliff using original sketches and photographs. </p>
