<p>It may have fabulous Art Deco architecture but they&#8217;ve installed state of the art projection in the four-screen cinema. The Plaza opened in 1933 with the newly released <em>King Kong </em>starring Fay Wray – they say the first outside London screening – and the cinema still screens the latest releases. </p>

<p>Goodbye giant buckets of popcorn, hello tempura prawns, Korean fried chicken burgers and burnt Basque cheesecake and cocktails at the luxury cinema –&nbsp;now part of the Everyman group – with cafe/bar and lounge in Bath’s SouthGate Centre. Eat and drink beforehand or while you watch laser-projected mainstream and indie flicks from the comfort of swanky, extra wide sofas. <p>Said to be the country’s oldest, continuously open cinema (its first show raised money for Titanic survivors), the Art Deco Curzon shows art house, mainstream films and live event screenings. <p>Small but perfectly formed, the Little Theatre Cinema in St Micheal&#8217;s Place screens art house and mainstream movies on two cosy screens, with balcony and sofas in the main auditorium.  Originally built in 1935 as a news theatre to show daily documentaries and newsreels, it&#8217;s now part of the Picturehouse group. </p>
