White tiles, driftwood panels, Farrow &amp; Ball coastal-inspired colours create a cool – but cosy – contemporary vibe. Come for all-day dining – breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner – with fresh smoked fish, seafood, &#8216;two pound-a-pop&#8217; oysters, sharing plates and more. Come for early evening or late night drinks, when the atmos will be fizzing as much as the Champagne and sparkling wine. Be one of the first through the door: they&#8217;re opening on Thurs 12 Oct. <p>Ever wondered what happens to old saddles? (No, me neither.) Caroline Strecker did, that&#8217;s why the designer, maker and leatherworker set up <a href="https://www.ragofcolts.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rag of Colts</a>, to turn old saddlery leather into beautiful hand stitched bags, belts and cases. Using traditional leather working tools and saddle-stitched by hand, the bags are made to last forever and look even better as they age (if only the same could said for me). For now, you can buy online but she&#8217;s opening a bricks and mortar shop in November. Watch this space. </p>

<p>Congrats to two local restaurants who&#8217;ve been awarded three AA Rosettes. <a href="https://restaurantroots.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Restaurant Roots</a> in Southbourne is a small restaurant an amuse bouche&#8217;s throw away from the area&#8217;s sandy beaches, with lunch and evening tasting menus for both omnivores and vegetarians. <a href="https://theethicurean.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Ethicurean</a>, set in a Victorian walled garden from which much of its produce comes, in Wrington serves ethically conscious Modern British food. Sadly, the restaurant will be serving its last on Sun 8 Oct, so it&#8217;s your last chance to <a href="https://www.exploretock.com/theethicurean" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">book now.</a></p>

<p>Judges declared <a href="https://gaggleofgeese.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Gaggle of Geese</a> in Buckland Newton, near Dorchester,  the best pub garden in the land at the Great British Pub Awards 2023.  With wood-fired oven, ice cream parlour, play bus ( a real double decker), ping pong, crazy golf and pygmy goats to feed, you and the kids certainly won&#8217;t be bored. <p>How do you fancy Michelin starred chef Merlin Labron-Johnson cooking dinner for ten in your own home? The chef&#8217;s <a href="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/osip2/osip-20" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">looking to raise £125,000</a> to launch ‘Osip 2&#8242;, a farm-to-table restaurant with rooms in the former Bull Inn at Hardway, just outside Bruton. How it works: you donate cash in exchange for a reward, which could be anything from a Maison Osip tote bag or ceramic bowl to going to the launch party and having your name on a &#8216;Founders&#8217; Wall&#8217;. </p>
