<p>The family-run flower farm in the heart of the glorious Blackdown Hills opens its doors in the summer for pick-your-own summer flowers, with the option of  cream tea with fizz under a gazebo overlooking the flower field and lake (OK, if you insist).  Flower pick only, £25 per person for 20 flower stems and foliage. Flower pick, cream tea and fizz for two, £90. </p>

<p>Head to the 18th century walled gardens with restaurant and bar, not far from Shaftesbury, to take your pick from a wide and wonderful selection of flowers in cutting beds curated by head gardener Annie Shutt. £15 a bucket and open until Nov. It&#8217;d be a shame if you didn&#8217;t treat yourself to one of their famous lunches, cooked over fire, while you&#8217;re there. </p>

<p>Breathe in the scent from the lavender fields, then meander your way through acres of sunflowers and select your stems. The farm shop is stocked with lavender-based stuff and you can stuff yourself with homemade cakes in their cafe. Free to enter. Sunflowers are expected to bloom from August. £5 for 5 stems. <p>Gather armfuls of cornflower for a fiver; the kids play on giant inflatables, pedal tractors and in the digger pit; find their way around a maize maize (from mid Aug) and see the animals; and then you all have some of their homemade ice cream. </p>
