I can remember when fireworks displays were free. I can’t believe how expensive some of them are.
We’re not all wealthy, we’re on a state pension so won’t be going this year

The best local firework displays in 2024, from fireworks in fields to fireworks over the sea; some of them are ticketed, others are free.

Actually it&#8217;s the Bristol Channel but you get the best views over the water from the Grand Pier, complete with funfair, Boardwalk café and Tiffany&#8217;s restaurant. 



Doors open: Entry from £6.30.



Tickets: standard ticket £13.99 includes fireworks and unlimited fairground rides; gold ticket £21.99 all of the above plus nosh like fish and chips; Table for 4 in Tiffany&#8217;s £159.99 (tables for 6 and 8 also available).

Live music, a funfair, a BBQ, bar, a Guy competition –&nbsp;oh, and some fireworks reflected across the sea – on East Beach in West Bay. Free buses will take you between Bridport and West Bay.



Starts: 4pm with fireworks at 8pm. 



Tickets: Free but donations welcome when you&#8217;re there.

A pyrotechnic cacophony, all the noise of the fair, the buzz of the bar – and a Silent Disco.



Starts: gates open at 4pm, with one display at 6.30 and a bigger one at 8.30pm



Tickets: £5 per person.

For once, the magnificent Himalayan gardens of rhododendrons and azaleas, are not the main attraction at the Dorset country house. It&#8217;s the fireworks taking centre stage and they should be spectacular, reflected in the lake with the trees as an atmospheric backdrop. Burgers, café, bar, music and glow sticks.



Gates open: 5pm, bonfire 7pm, fireworks 7.30pm.



Tickets: Early bird adults £15 (£18 on the gate); children 3–16 £7; early bird family £40 (£45 on the gate).

Grand fireworks display in St Matthews Field on the Friday, and one of the largest illuminated processions in Europe – over 50 carnival carts, some of them huge, lit by thousands of lights accompanied by masqueraders on foot, bands and majorettes – travelling through the streets, with a dramatic firework finale (&#8216;squibbing&#8217;) in the centre of town on the Saturday. 



Starts: On Friday, fireworks 7.30pm. On the Saturday, entertainment from 10am, parade from 6pm with squibbing half an hour after the parade ends, at around 8pm.



Tickets: procession is free but programmes are £2; park and ride £16/car.

Dust off your broomsticks and fly over to this biggie, with fairground (with separate entrance fee), assorted kids’ entertainment including face painters, stilt-walkers and fire jugglers, a massive bonfire and a firework show accompanied by an epic soundtrack. 



Gates open: 5pm, with fireworks at 7.30pm. 



Tickets: Advance: adult £10; child (4-12) £7; under 3s free. Roof Garden with canopy and bar, adults £21, child £16. Royal Crescent Restaurant tickets with meal prior to display, adults £40, child £20. Private suite £35.

Lyme’s annual firework display over Lyme Bay, with The Cobb as a backdrop and followed by a huge bonfire on the beach. Good viewpoints: along the seafront, in Langmoor and Lister Gardens. 



Starts: fireworks 6.30pm.



Tickets: free but there will be buckets collecting cash to fund future displays.

One night, three displays. The first is the quietest of the three and popular with young families; the second is the busiest; the final display, the White Knuckle, may be short in length but is big on spectacular bangs. Lots to do aside from the fireworks: fire performers; live music; a family indoor zone with a drop slide, pirate ship and dance workshops; &#8216;have a go&#8217; sports; &#8216;a giant fun fair. 



Starts: Gates open 5.30pm, with displays at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm.

With the pyrotechnics supplied by Skyburst – winners of the 2023 British Firework Championships – this large display should be bangin&#8217;! Party Peeps will be supplying fun and music including an after-display foam party.



Starts: Gate open 5.30pm, fireworks at 7pm.

No bangs allowed. With the welfare of the animals living in the country park in mind, this is a 12-minute low noise firework display, with music, blazing bonfire, food and drink.



Timings: Each day, first session, gates open at 4pm, fireworks at 5pm, ends at 6pm. Second session, gates open at 7pm, fireworks at 8pm and event ends at 9pm.



5pm with food and drink available from 5.30pm, bonfire at 6pm and fireworks at 6.30pm.



Tickets: Available in advance only. Adults £13; kids £9; under 2s free; family (2 adults, 2 kids) £39; concessions (over 60) £9. Country Park members get a 20% discount.
