<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://www.secretvalleychristmastrees.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Secret Valley,</a> Goathurst, near Bridgwater</h2>



<p>Secret Valley&#8217;s John Hardwick is a former chair of the British Christmas Tree Growers Association, and the family have been growing Christmas trees on the edge of the Quantock Hills for over 30 years.  To buy cut or pot-grown trees, visit or buy online and collect. Either way, stop to say hello to the donkeys and alpacas, have a mulled cider and mince pie, have a gander at their selection of wines made with grapes from their vineyard or throw some snowballs (yes, honest). Open Mon to Sat 10am–5pm; Sun 10am–4pm.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://frenchaychristmastreefarm.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Frenchay Christmas Tree Farm</a>, Frenchay </h2>



<p>How may different types of Christmas tree can you name?  There are six on offer here: Nordmann Fir, Fraser Fir, Norway Spuce, Douglas Fir, Silver Spruce and Blue Spruce. Wander around their 18 acres and pick one or choose from a pre-cut selection, including living trees in pots. Open every day from 9am–5pm.</p>

<p>John planted his first trees in 1982 alongside his main job as a forester; now with his wife and sons he grows over 60,000 trees including Norway Spruce, Nordman Fir, Frazer Fir, Cannan Fir and Pine each year in Rode (near Frome), Colerne (near Bath) and Butleigh (near Glastonbury).  Expect trees of all sizes, potted trees, stands, logs, kindling and wreaths. Open Rode Mon to Sun, 9am–5.30pm; Butleigh Mon to Sun, 9am–4pm; Colerne, Weds to Sun, 10am–4pm.</p>

<p>Freshly cut and potted Nordman, Fraser Fir and Norway Spruce Christmas trees grown on a family-run, 40-acre Middle Hill Farm. Masses of decorations, baubles, pine cones, berries, lights, tree stands, wreaths – the lot. Stroll amongst the sculptural installations in their new Enchantment at Langford Lakes illuminated trail. Father Christmas will be there some weekends. Open every day of the week. <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://www.cranborne.co.uk/christmas-trees/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cranborne Christmas Tree Farm</a>, Alderholt, near Fordingbridge</h2>



<p>Thirty acres of Christmas trees grown on the Cranborne Estate. Buy Norway spruce, Nordmann Fir and other varieties, from 3ft to 10ft. You can order one over the phone for collection any day of the week. Open until Sun 15 Dec, 9.30–4pm.(You need to book a car park space at weekends),</p>

<p>This place, run by a young lad, gets great reviews. Open 9am–7.30pm Mon to Sat every day and 9.30–6.30pm Sun, though if you want him to cut one down for you, you&#8217;ll need to choose your tree by 3.30pm.</p>

<p>After you&#8217;ve chosen your Nordman Fir, repair to the Finnish GrillKota to toast marshmallows over the fire or have a look at the old Chard canal running through the garden at this little place in the Quantocks. <p>Bring your own spade or borrow one of theirs to dig up your own tree at Towerbrook Farm. Pre-cut trees also available if you can&#8217;t be fagged. All trees are £50, regardless of size. Cash only here.  Open daily 8am–4pm daily. If the effort of digging works up a thirst, Thatcher&#8217;s cider shop is just down the road. <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://www.mendipchristmastrees.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mendip Christmas Tree Farm</a>, between Shepton Mallet and Frome</h2>



<p>Choose and cut your own tree. Walk (or ride up in their train) into their forest of trees, choose your tree, mark it with a tag, and they&#8217;ll cut it down and bring it into the barn to be netted so you can take it away. Pre-cut too. Freshly cut Mon to Fri, 10am-6pm; Sat &amp; Sun 9am-6pm. Choose your own and cut Mon to Fri, 10am-3.30pm (last entry) Sat &amp; Sun 9am-3.30pm (last entry). Open from the last weekend in November and then every day until Sun 22 Dec.</p>
