The Swan, Wedmore
Laid back but stylish, this former Georgian coaching house champions local produce, has pretty gardens and bedrooms – and you can bring your pooch.
A haven of easy-going comfort in the bustling village of Wedmore, this elegant 18th century pub serves up good food and good times with leather sofas, flagstone floors, wood-burners and bare wooden tables on the ground floor and seven lovely rooms above. There’s lots of space for al fresco dining at the front of the pub and on the lovely terrace and in the beautiful garden at the rear.
Executive Chef Tom Blake and Head Chef Sam Sperring-Trendl cook up fantastic 2 AA Rosette food every day of the week, and the Sunday lunches – served all day – are legendary.
Championing local produce, the meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, eggs, cheeses and yoghurts all come from named local suppliers. Breads, cakes and biscuits are baked daily on the premises, with gluten-free options. There are always tempting veggie and vegan dishes on the menu.
Eat in or takeaway wood-fired sourdough pizzas from 12pm–9pm every day.
Nab delicious goodies from sister restaurant At the Chapel’s pop-up bakery every Wednesday 9am–3pm.
And to drink? Choose from local ales and ciders on tap with a comprehensive and interesting wine list featuring over 20 wines by the glass.
The seven bedrooms are stylish and charming with generous beds, white Egyptian linen, French vintage furniture and pretty textiles. Two of the larger rooms feature cast iron claw-footed baths in the bedroom. The chic bathrooms have deep pile towels and Ubiety luxury bath and body products.
Children and dogs are very welcome. Dogs staying overnight even get their own gift box!
