<p>Over 200 hospitality industry experts – hotel operators, editors, travel writers, top suppliers – from across the country have put together a list of the UK&#8217;s <a href="https://www.top50boutiquehotels.com/list/1-50" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Top 50 Boutique Hotels</a>. &#8216;Course The Newt in Somerset, lying between Bruton and Castle Cary, nabbed top spot (duh!) but four other luscious locals are also named as the best in the biz. Time for a weekend away?</p>

<p>Formerly Hadspen House, the luxury yet understated hotel was reborn as The Newt in 2019. It&#8217;s now home to a spa hotel, a working farm, a restaurant, café and beautifully landscaped gardens&nbsp;– complete with replica Roman villa and aerial walkway through the treetops – with rooms located in the original limestone house and the Farmyard outbuildings. </p>

<p>An elegant Georgian townhouse, medieval forge and twelve cottages around a courtyard have been reimagined by Claudia Waddams as a 12-bedroom luxury hotel. Each of the rooms in the three different parts have their own character but all are adorned with eclectic original artworks, family heirlooms and lavish furnishings. Lush. </p>

<p>The Grade II listed former 18th century congregational chapel on Bruton’s high street has eight simply designed yet beautiful rooms, some of which have their own terrace, an all-day restaurant, artisan bakery, wine store, and is a great place to hang out with friends – or stay for the weekend.
